Every other year we have a reunion for Andy's immediate family and this year we were in charge so we chose one of our favorite places to have it, Bryce Canyon. We stayed at Ruby's Inn which sits at the entrance to Bryce Canyon. It was so much fun! Ruby's Inn has expanded quite a bit since I was last up there, check it out at http://www.rubysinn.com/, there is a lot to see and do!
This reunion was so fun for the kids especially since all the cousins were able to hang out and play. Andrew and Talia were in heaven and had a hard time sleeping b/c they wanted to be with their cousins all the time. The weather was perfect while we were there, and it was so nice to hang out, swim, walk, hike around, and enjoy the outdoors.
Once again I have a ton of photos. I always take too many pictures. Just looking through these pictures makes me want to head back up there. If you haven't been to Bryce Canyon it is a must see for sure.
Beautiful Bryce Canyon
Andy's parents, Earle and Karen
I'm starting to worry that this little smile Andy taught Talia is going to last a while!
At Ruby's they had a really cool rock shop. The kids were fascinated by all the different kinds of rocks. They each came home with a little sack of different colored rocks that they were able to hand pick. A very cool souvenir.
We decided to take the shuttle into Bryce canyon from the hotel and the kids loved it! We had quite a large group as you can see. We took up half of the entire bus! Andy's immediate family is big!!!
Brandon, Jake and Andrew
The majority of the cousins minus the little ones
All 23 of us minus Matt who is living in China
We took a kid friendly hike to mossy cave, then there was another near by hike that wasn't as "kid" friendly but that didn't stop Emily, Ken and most of the kids from trying it, they are the tiny dots on the picture.
Andy and Andrew coming down from Mossy Cave
We had to go and check out the waterfall
Back at the hotel Andy's parents set up badminton. Andrew became obsessed in no time.
Grandma McEwen and Jim came up and surprised us which made the reunion complete. Talia had an immediate bond with her Great Grandma McEwen, it was very sweet.
One thing all the cousins enjoyed doing was playing in the dirt. It kept them occupied for long periods of time!
On our way back to Vegas, we took the scenic route and went through Zion's national park, but before we got there we stopped on the side of the road to take a look at some buffalo. The kids loved it! Talia looks a little bothered in this picture but only b/c I was holding her when she wanted to try and make a break for it and head for the buffalo.
Andy got a great shot of this buffalo that was eating right by the fence. I'm so glad we took the long way home. We really enjoyed the beautiful scenery. I can't believe how close I am to all of this living in Las Vegas. It makes me wonder why I don't head to Southern Utah more often.
It was great being able to see all of Andy's family too. Since they all live in Boise it is hard to get together often, so having these reunions are nice. Thanks McEwen's for driving all the way to Bryce to spend the weekend with us, and Grandma McEwen for surprising us and for coming all the way from Lake Havasu, it was great to see everyone. We had so much fun!
